Reflective Post

This course has been very informative. It has also taught me many fun as well as interesting new technological ways to advance my future classroom. I am so glad that I was given the chance to take this course. I have grown in so many areas of my learning that I would have never had the chance of expanding if it weren't for this course.

The text book was very useful when it came working on blog posts and other course work. I actually enjoyed reading this book which is very hard for me to enjoy any book for that matter. One thing I will say is that I have enjoyed learning about legal and ethical issues when it comes to using technology. Many other courses I have studied in I felt that the book was not useful and that it was a waste of money, but not with this textbook.

Each activity and assignment has provided me with the knowledge to learn technological advances on my own so that each one I could advance my knowledge more. The reflections and discussions have given me the chance to work with others, learn from them and also have a discussion with others about our learning. I have nothing but good things to say about this course and I would recommend anyone looking to advance their knowledge or heading towards a career in teaching.

I love this video because it shows how over time technology has changed in the classrooms. Growing up with a mother who is a teacher has always helped show me that adapting to new technologies may be difficult but it also can be fun!

Blog Post #L ... Chapter 12.

Change...That is a word I feel that I hear on a daily basis especially on the news and in the media. Everything and I mean everything is changing every minute of everyday and year. People, places and most of all technology. Technology in the classrooms become greater and greater as time goes on. Leaders in schools such as teachers  are learning to integrate technology in new ways and create change in their classroom.
There are 6 technology integration issues. First off administrative support and teaching style, teaching style is important to the students and admin support is not only huge for the students but also the teachers. Unwillingness to change favorite lesson plans can be hard on the students if the teachers are not willing to change things, but what can be done is the teacher making different activities and other ways of working on this curriculum. Reluctance to use technology in new lesson plans can be rough on the teacher when it comes to figuring out the technology but the students will love the new ideas. Use of technology as a reward or punishment is a great idea for students at a young age, the older the students get then the more the students do not care. Using technology as an add on to another activity can make introducing technology into the classroom a bit more fun and also creative. Using technology to separate students by ability groups can help the teacher learn who need to be with who or how she can arrange groups to help one another. Each of these methods can be useful in many ways to a teacher and most importantly a student.

There are different types of classrooms with different types of technology equipped in them. In my opinion every type of classroom can excel with technology if it is used in the right ways. Elementary schools not have computers in their classrooms anymore but when it comes to high schoolers they have chrome books that are used to work on. Most schools have computer labs and them they also have smart boards in their classrooms in which students can use as well.

Blog Post #I ...... Chapter 4

Teaching goals, methods and procedures
Each teacher has to decide what they will use with their class. Reasons why lessons are being taught are because of goals. Methods are ways teachers convey their content to their students. During a lesson the time, grouping and scheduling of the students are done by the teachers and these are called procedures. With this being said all three of these combined are the format for students daily learning. Technology also supports the way lessons are developed like software, websites, blogs and other types of technology.

Approaches to lesson planning
A huge roll in teaching that correlates with goals, methods and procedures would be lesson planning. Lesson plans are how all three of those elements are organized and put together. students learning objectives tell who is going to do what, when, how much or how often and how it will be done.    Learning objectives tell the outcomes after a lesson is taught. Technology has become a huge part is lesson planning, using the internet for resources. Most lesson planning is done on the computer and submitted to the principle.

Assessing and evaluating students
There are many steps to assess and evaluate students such as testing. There are norm referenced tests and criterion referenced tests. Norm tests are where students scores are compared to other students their age and criterion tests are compared and evaluated to personal performance. There are also standardized tests that are from the state, these tests students and score them based on their age range and then also their performance rates the school and the teachers performance as well. There are many approaches to assessing and evaluating students more than just testing them, such as watching them in class and their grades and participation in class as well.

Blog post #G.....chapter 10.

Topic one.. Universal Design for learning.. which is a concept of architecture, which is a new approach in which schools can better serve all students to the best of their ability. This means that students with adaptations can move around freely. For example students in wheelchairs can get from the street to the sidewalk safely. The UDL has also used many advancements to accommodate a broad span of students needs when it comes to the design in the curriculum.
Topic two....Word clouds, which is a visual representation of words or text. This cloud allows a person to view a large amount of words in one visual setting. This type of program uses a document and finds the most common and or keywords to be pick out and put into a visual perspective. As seen above I have done an example for chapter 10. I have listed the main point and keywords for this chapter and the program has rearranged the words to flow and help one get a perspective on what chapter 10 in this case would be about.
Topic two... Adaptations for classroom learning with technology. There are three types of accommodations, low-tech, mid-tech and high-tech. Sounds a little complicated but to put it in another perspective and to give you a short definition to explain each of these would be as followed. Low tech would be considered easy and without digital materials. Mid tech allows digital materials and can give leeway in the curriculum. High tech is where computers and other specialized material are in the classroom.  I do believe that if a child is not understand or needs extra help because of a disability this is how it comes into play.

Blog Post #E.....Chapter 7

Software for teaching and learning is a big deal in the education department in the year 2017. Software keeps getting larger and computers are a major part of learning that just keeps growing larger everyday. There are different types of software like system, application, standard and even open-source. A system software is in charge of the function and control of a computer. Application software has specific functions that produce a verity of services. Standard software are tools on the computer such as a document, file or data transfer. Open source software is for anyone t use, copy and recreate to make their own at little to no cost. Each of these types of software are unique and can take teaching and learning to a new level more and more things are learned.
Computer games as learning resources for students is huge now. I have seen my brothers come home with different websites to use as a learning tool. Videos and web-based games are the new way of learning. There have been a lot of debates about how games and gaming can be bad for the youths brain. From what research has shown this has actually helped with many areas of the brain and learning. Games have been a huge boom when it comes to learning and brain simulation for students and it just keeps growing.

Digital Blog Post #C

Digital Blog Post #C...... Chapter 3

First off I want to talk about teacher and student centered approaches. teacher centered or also known as transmission teaching is where all the information is going from the teacher to the student. The main objective for teacher centered is for the teacher to teach in the most timely and best way for their students to learn the best. For this method of teaching it is more about a lecture as a whole group. Students may view this type of teaching very hard and especially when it comes to individual work. When it comes to student centered or learner centered, the student becomes a huge part of their own learning environment. This approach is about the students taking real-life situations and incorporating it into their studies. Also this learning is a natural process that help students learn with group projects, this process helps the students work together while bringing different thought process to the table.
Engaging students can be a difficult process especially depending on the age group of the students. There are several process or methods that can help students become more involved in instructional time. Group learning for me is a big help. I feel this because if there is more than just me bringing my thoughts to the table then it helps me and the others view things differently. Examining yourself work and one on one help can be other ideas to help engage students. When trying to help your student become more focused, it can help to have that student look at their own work and reflect on it themselves trying to look at it from a different perspective.
Expressing creativity is huge when it comes to transforming learning with technology. Creativity in general is a big part of learning and working with another part of the brain. Presentations such as boards, power points and other visual tools are great techniques when presenting information. Visuals have become a great tool to you in the work place which is learned in schools as well to give another learning style that has not been applied as much as hearing and hands on. Expressing creativity in the classroom has helped me through school since I am a hands on and visual learner. This can help many other students grow in ways that are becoming the new norm.

Digital Blog Post #A .......... Chapter 1.

Technology in classrooms
One,  media use by age. Statistics show that those under the age of 17 are being more exposed to technology and the used of the media. A lot of schools are turning to media use that is easier and better for the students to have all the knowledge at their finger tips. This chart also give us information about the average time spent using media now that it is becoming a regular part of our everyday life.

Two, educational use of  technology. Experts feel that technology can be educational in the classroom. I feel that not all students would agree only because not all are good with it but this has changed a lot in the last couple of years. This is also both beneficial for the students and the teachers. For example the students can work on group projects and research, teachers have the option to work on attendance, grading and also home-school communication.

Three, teaching tools. Teaching tools in technology is becoming a great thing of the future, and is only getting greater with time. When I was in school smart boards and projectors were the new thing and now my little brother is coming home with a mac book to do it homework and communicate with the teacher. This also helps the teacher individualize work for each students need.

Conclusion, There is a lot to know and to learn about these topics and all the new technologies that will be used and can be used in the classrooms. This will also help the students and teachers to grow and learn more in the classrooms.
